Ooof

There are two things, other than McDonald's, that I am convinced contain crack-cocaine. They are 1)Snapple beverages--made from the best stuff on earth, and 2)Entenmann's Devil's Food Crumb Donuts--named for obvious reasons. I bought the latter yesterday, and I had the distinct feeling, while eating, that I could never get enough--an experience I have heard that is much like that of using the aformentioned stimulant.

I ate half a box by the time I went to bed.

Beyondo and KRUU

Just had the first gig with Beyondo. It was so much freaking fun. It was heaven and hell at the same time. Overwhelming heaven, hell just becasue of the lack of a rug for the drum kit. Here were some thoughts I had:

"Oh, man this is off the hook. This dude is taking a nasty guitar solo and I am rocking. AHHHHHH!!!!! My bass drum is about to not have a pedal. This sucks!!!!!! But it sounds sooo good! Hey Crowell, help me out over here . . ."

Overall wonderful experience. Will be playing at The Creek and The Cave on Halloween Night in Long Island City.

Brooklyn, NY

I am here in New York City, Brooklyn to be exact, and I am settled in. It is a whole new world, and I love it. New website is almost up, I played with Eric Biondo tonight, that was awesome. Weird, but awesome. My favorite song was entitled Jelly Bean in the Belly Button. Other songs included Working in the Driveway, Crazy Old Cowgirl and Devil Makes Love to Angel. Genius. Will be playing with him again next Monday at the same place: The Lucky Cat in Brooklyn.

More Montreal

I saw a fantastic firework show from the Montreal bridge that cost about $600,000. It was the final show in a month long contest between a bunch of countries. WOW!

The workshop is wonderful. I almost can't how fast you get better when you are playing so much. Go figure!!

Gotta run!!!!

Montreal!

I am here in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is like Europe, but in, like, North America. It is so much fun here. I mainly play tabla all day. 5 hours today, maybe 6 yesterday, but I do have time to eat, which is nice. Payton MacDonald is here and Pandit Sharda Sahai is here. He is soo amazing. Oh, and I'm learning French.

Whoa! It's been a long time!

WHoops! Sorry about that. Life gets crazy and then you don't update the blog.
The last time I talked was when I was pre-surf trip. Since then, I have caught waves on the East coast for the very first time, rode the nose of an 8 foot long-board, graduated with a master's degree, stayed with PJ Kelly's parents in Evanston and began my venture into the REAL world. Whatever that means. I started a photography business and set goals for my life and it feels great. Now, with all the time that at one point was spent in school for the last twenty years of my life, I can do whatever I want. Shaaaaaa! I'm going to a tabla workshop with Pandit Sharda Sahai which happens to take place in Montreal, Canada starting on Monday. I'm not well versed with my Canadian geopgraphy, of which my experience is constrained to British Columbia and Toronto, so it came to my surprise that my trip there would consist an map-quest-guestimation of 1113.84 miles--an 18 hour and 28 minute duration. I like loco and loco likes me.

Rock solid

I'm off to the southeast coast tommorrow morning. Wish me luck and many pictures coming when I get back. I had an amazing photo shoot this morning out in the countryside. I love photography because you're able to freeze moments of beauty into single frames. Any anxiety of not catching the best moments have melted away into just being able to go with the flow of nature and react perfectly and naturally. It feels the same with music and everything else in life.

yah!

OK, it's spring hear and I feel like everything has changed--my life, my friends, everything! It's awesome but crazy, but really awesome. I'm sorry for not being up-to-date with this blog thing, but I have been busy like a mother. I have a lot of pics to put up soon, but not now because I'm going to crash right now.
By the way, my pregnant cousin Paige and her husband Grant visited this weekend. We had a great time. There was just so much stuff going on, that we had such a hard time figuring out what to do. Ok, that was a lie. This IS Iowa.
