KRUU 10/29

The focus of tonight's radio show to showcase the rhythmic complexity and musicality of two diverse styles of music: Polyrhythmic Swedish Metal and the Classical Indian tabla solo of the Benaras gharana.
Artists included the whirlwind of heavy--Meshuggah--as well as master tabla player--Pandit Sharda Sahai.

There are two things, other than McDonald's, that I am convinced contain crack-cocaine. They are 1)Snapple beverages--made from the best stuff on earth, and 2)Entenmann's Devil's Food Crumb Donuts--named for obvious reasons. I bought the latter yesterday, and I had the distinct feeling, while eating, that I could never get enough--an experience I have heard that is much like that of using the aformentioned stimulant.

I ate half a box by the time I went to bed.

Beyondo and KRUU

Just had the first gig with Beyondo. It was so much freaking fun. It was heaven and hell at the same time. Overwhelming heaven, hell just becasue of the lack of a rug for the drum kit. Here were some thoughts I had:

"Oh, man this is off the hook. This dude is taking a nasty guitar solo and I am rocking. AHHHHHH!!!!! My bass drum is about to not have a pedal. This sucks!!!!!! But it sounds sooo good! Hey Crowell, help me out over here . . ."

Overall wonderful experience. Will be playing at The Creek and The Cave on Halloween Night in Long Island City.

Brooklyn, NY

I am here in New York City, Brooklyn to be exact, and I am settled in. It is a whole new world, and I love it. New website is almost up, I played with Eric Biondo tonight, that was awesome. Weird, but awesome. My favorite song was entitled Jelly Bean in the Belly Button. Other songs included Working in the Driveway, Crazy Old Cowgirl and Devil Makes Love to Angel. Genius. Will be playing with him again next Monday at the same place: The Lucky Cat in Brooklyn.
